Anyone who watched or read about Saturday's Montana Grizzly football game won't be too surprised by this.

We wanted to get in line early to congratulate Griz quarterback Chad Chalich, who Monday was named Root Sports Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week for him amazing performance in Montana's 62-44 win over Idaho State. Our thanks to University of Montana Sports Information and Eric Taber for sending us the news.

Filling in for starter Brady Gustafson, Chad broke two school records: his seven touchdown passes were the most in a single game in UM history. And his total of eight touchdowns (seven passing, one rushing) also set a school record for most touchdowns for which one player was responsible. Chad also picked up honorable mention votes for national FCS Player of the Week.

So...does Montana have a starting quarterback controversy now? :-)  Heck, we'll leave that to the guys in charge and just say, Chad: awesome job Saturday!!!! He helped Montana move up a notch or two (17/18) in this weeks national rankings.  Griz have a big one on the road Saturday at Northern Colorado. Scott Gurnsey and I will be on at 10:00 a.m. with the Statewide Tailgate Show. Kickoff at 12:00 on the Voice of the Griz, KGVO.
