I just got a couple of great pictures from Bruce Auchly who is the FWP press guy over in Great Falls. There’s a couple of 3 year old grizzly bears roaming the berry patches around Ft Shaw and he got some great pictures.

I have great respect for these bears. They represent so much of what is Montana;  wild, strong, untamed, independent, fearless, all that and more.  I’ve been lucky to see them in the wild a couple of times. It always leaves me feeling lucky to have had the opportunity.

Bruce said it would be a good idea for bowhunters to remember that bears are out and very active right now, “bulking up” for winter. They’re especially hitting the berry patches and chokecherry bushes. So watch it when you’re working the thickets. Carrying some bear spray might be a good idea.
