The Missoula County Sheriff's Office is investigating a Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks vehicle break-in that occurred Monday, September 9, inside a closed and fenced lot.

Sheriff's office Public Information Officer Paige Pavalone said on Tuesday that several expensive items were stolen out of the vehicle,

"One of the Fish, Wildlife and Parks employees returned to the vehicle, which was secured in a lot," Pavalone said. "All of their vehicles are stored inside a compound area surrounded by an 8-foot fence with three strings of barbed-wire over the top of it. The vehicle window looked like it had been tampered with, and when he checked the vehicle Monday morning, he discovered that several items had been taken. Some were personal, and others were very valuable work-related items, such as a GPS system, which was valued at several hundred dollars."

Pavalone said more than one vehicle was tampered with.

"One additional vehicle had a toolbox in the back, and bungee cords had been cut to gain access to the toolbox," Pavalone said. "Another thing must be noted. Some rifles and work-related firearms were not taken from the vehicle. So, some valuable items had been taken, while other valuable items were left behind. We're looking for any information that can help us with this case."

Pavalone said the Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks is also investigating.

Anyone with information is asked to call Missoula Crimestoppers at 721-44-44.
