Spring bear hunting season opens in Montana Monday, April 15. A reminder that the law has been changed. There is now only a 24-hour wait to hunt bears in Montana after you have purchased your license rather than the five day waiting period. And you do have to take a bear identification test before buying a license. That is a one-time deal to make sure you are proficient in the difference between black bears and grizzlies. Not sure how this recent cold snap and snow in the higher elevations is going to effect the first week of hunting, but for those of you with paying income taxes behind you and thoughts of a bear in your sights ahead, best of luck!
