A woman found brutally beaten at a Missoula intersection earlier this month has died in the hospital and investigators are asking for the public's help in finding the culprit.

47-year-old Susan Wood was found wounded at the intersection of Coal Mine Road and Otis Street on March 3rd around 8:33 pm. She had apparently been attacked and suffered blunt force trauma to the head. She died on Friday March 16 in the hospital, after surviving in an unconscious state for more than a week.

There are still lots of unknowns, but investigators have found video evidence of Wood from the day she was attacked near the north end of Lowe's Home Improvement Store on Reserve Street. The video shows her walking north and turning right onto England Boulevard at around 6:48 p.m., less than two hours from when she was found beaten. This is a regular path for Wood and deputies hope her bright pink coat may jog people's memories of what happened that day.

According to MCSO Lieutenant Robert Kennedy, Wood walked almost everywhere she went, had a slight limp, regularly wore a pink coat and carried a bag or two. She is around 5'6" and 250 pounds. She was found injured miles away from where she was last seen near Lowe's, and managed to get there within an hour and a half, even though she did not walk very fast. Detectives believe she likely got into a vehicle before she was found.

Anyone with information about Susan Wood or the suspect(s) are asked to come forward or call the recorded tip-line at 1 (406) 258-3337. Please leave a detailed message with your contact information and a detective will call you back.
