Just after 6:00 Thursday night, Missoula Police noticed a driver in the 3100 block of Reserve Street who had expired registration. According to Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh, the officer recognized the driver and knew that he had a suspended or revoked drivers license.

“The officer initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver who is identified as 30-year-old Curtis Lee Babbitt,” said Welsh. “During the course of the investigation, the officers learned that the male was on probation. A subsequent search of his vehicle revealed that he was in possession of syringes and a substance that they later confirmed to be an opiate in nature.”

Babbitt now faces four separate charges, including a felony charge for criminal possession of a dangerous drug.
