Just after midnight on Saturday morning, officers on foot beat in the downtown area attempted to detain a suspect involved in a disturbance.

The suspect, got into a vehicle and while attempting to flee, crashed into another vehicle. Officers then tried to get the vehicle to stop but the driver of the vehicle drove directly towards one of the officers striking him with the vehicle.

During the incident an officer fired his duty weapon at the driver. The driver stopped and was arrested.

The driver of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries. The officer was treated and released at a local hospital for injuries received during the incident.

The Montana Highway Patrol processed the driver for DUI. Montana Department of Criminal Investigations has been asked to conduct the investigation of this incident. Further information will be released through the Montana Attorney General's office at (406) 444-5888.
