Missoula Police have arrested 31-year-old Justin Deett Adams after a young girl called 911 a little after 2:00 on Wednesday afternoon telling police that her mom and dad were fighting.

"The children were playing robustly and [Adams'] wife had told them to quiet down before she and her husband got into an argument over the children that led to him saying something about the children that wasn't very nice," said Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh. "She then threw an empty water bottle at him, and he grabbed her by the face and poured hot tea over her head."

Three children were present during the fight: a two-year-old, a thirteen-year-old and a seven-year-old. Welsh says after the hot tea attack, things escalated and a child ended up being drawn into the fight.

"[The wife] reported that she had thrown a tea mug at him, before he then picked up one of the children who was upset by what was going on," Welsh said. "He apparently picked [the child] up by the face. At one point the mother described him picking the child up by the throat and shaking, before he put the child down and left. That child was seven-years-old."

Adams is facing a felony charge related to serious injury because of the act of picking up the child by the throat, he is also facing a misdemeanor family member assault charge for the attack on the mother.
