At about 7:00 p.m. Monday evening, May 5, a man stumbled into a convenience store in the 900 block of north Russell Street claiming to have been recently mugged.

"The male reported to the clerk that he had just been beaten-up by two males that he described as Native American, one of which was wearing a bandanna on his head," said Missoula Police Detective Sgt. Travis Welsh. "[The victim] said the male who was wearing the bandanna asked him for money in the alley, he offered them a dollar, then they proceeded to punch him in the face, knock him to the ground and take the rest of the money that he had."

The man had minor injuries from the incident, but did not require medical attention. Because the robbery took place in an alley there is little likelihood that a photograph of the suspects will be available. Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the two suspects.

"They were described as being 19 and 20 years of age, both Native American," said Welsh. "Only the one wearing the bandanna actually assaulted the victim and took his money, the other just stood by and then they both ran off."

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call detective Brad Waln at (406) 552-6318, or Crimestoppers at (406) 721-4444.
