Missoula Man Killed in Accidental Shooting on North Side – Alcohol May be Involved [AUDIO]
Early Sunday morning, August 18, a Missoula man, 23, was shot in the chest and killed by a friend in a home on Missoula’s North Side.
Sergeant Rick Stevenson of the Missoula Police Department said on Sunday afternoon, that the call came in to 9-1-1 just after midnight.
“At approximately five minutes after midnight, officers responded to a report of an accidental shooting on Turner Street,” Stevenson said. “Upon arrival, officers discovered a 23 year-old unresponsive male who had a gunshot wound to the chest.”
Stevenson said the suspect remained at the scene and met with responding officers.
“The alleged shooter, a 21 year-old Missoula male was also on scene,” Stevenson continued. “The injured male was transported to Missoula’s St. Patrick Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Detectives were called to the scene, and in investigation is ongoing.”
Stevenson said it appears the shooting was accidental and no names have yet been released, pending notification of next-of-kin. he said that alcohol may have played a part in the fatal shooting.
