A 33 year-old Missoula man is in jail after allegedly choking his ex-girlfriend, throwing her into a vehicle and then threatening to beat her with a baseball bat.

Michael Silva has been charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor partner or family member assault, a misdemeanor. Court records indicate that on Saturday, September 26, Silva allegedly choked the victim for over an hour after she told her boyfriend, Silva, that she was leaving him. He grabbed her from behind and dragged her into a van and continued choking her. The victim told officers she believed that Silva was going to kill her. Just before she blacked out, she said Silva grabbed a baseball bat which she felt he was going to kill her with. The incident took place at the victim's residence at 1120 Shakespeare.

Deputy Missoula County Attorney Selene Koepke asked substitute Justice of the Peace Suzanne Geer for bail of $30,000, but she set bail at only $5,000. His next court appearance will be October 14.
