Missoula Man Charged With Attempted Deliberate Homicide – Bail Set at $500,000 [AUDIO] [DOCUMENT]

Mark Bryon Tabish, 55, appeared in justice court via video from the Missoula County Jail on Wednesday afternoon after allegedly shooting his wife in the face with a small caliber rifle early Tuesday morning at their Missoula home.

Deputy Missoula County Attorney Jason Marks said prior to Tuesday's incident, .this was not the first time Tabish had threatened his wife, Kathy, with a weapon.

"It appears from the police investigation that there was an incident a couple of months before when he had been drinking and pointed a gun at her, telling her he was going to kill her," Marks said. "His brother-in-law talked him out of it, and took his guns for safekeeping to keep this kind of thing from happening again."

But, Marks said, Tabish persisted in pursuing another weapon.

"It appears he went on the morning of the 6th, purchased a rifle and ammunition, and then ended up shooting his wife later that night," Marks said. "The investigation shows he had been drinking all day."

Marks said Mrs. Tabish will recover from her wounds.

"It's my understanding that she should make a full recovery," he said. "She actually drove herself to the hospital. She is very fortunate, considering that she was the victim of a shooting."

Judge Karen Orzech ordered Tabish to be remanded to the Missoula County Jail on $500,000 bond.
