32 year-old Todd Leichliter appeared in justice court via video from the Missoula County Jail on Tuesday afternoon charged with felony sexual abuse of children.

According to court documents, Leichliter was dating a Missoula woman, and became sexually interested in her 15 year-old daughter. He contacted the girl and made it clear he wanted to have sex with her. At this point, the girl's mother contacted Detective Chris Shermer with the Missoula Police Department and he took over the messaging with the defendant. On Monday, the defendant knew the girl's mother was going to be away and sent a message suggesting they get together for sex. He knew that the girl was 15. Leichliter came to the girl's home at 8:22 Monday night, when he was greeted by Detective Shermer and Sergeant Scott Pastian, who placed him under arrest.

Deputy Missoula County Attorney Jennifer Clark told Judge Karen Orzech that she was requesting a high bail.

"The State is recommending $200,000 bail in this case," Clark said. "The reason we're asking for that amount is because this defendant has a prior charge of sexual intercourse without consent that was resolved as criminal endangerment, but involved two 15 year-old girls, In this particular case, he was coming to the victim's home to have sexual relations with another 15 year-old."

Judge Orzech agreed and remanded Leichliter back to the jail on $200,000 bond. He will appear again on April 28.
