High school students and their families are invited to "Get EmPowered for College" Thursday evening at the Missoula Food Bank.

So, you're immediately thinking, "there's an unusual place to get college prep." Well, read on. It all ties together. But the big thing is to clear your schedule anytime between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. Thursday (March 15).

The free event takes place in the upstairs learning kitchen of the Missoula Food Bank, 1720 Wyoming Street, and is hosted by the University of Montana and EmPower Place, a collective effort by spectrUM Discovery Area, Missoula Food Bank and Missoula Public Library.

Students and their families can drop in anytime during the event and learn more about the opportunities available at UM and Missoula College. Representatives will be there to help you with financial aid and admissions applications questions, too.

Free dinner is provided, and high school students can enter to win raffle prizes. It sounds like a friendly, low-key way to perhaps take a couple little steps toward pursuing a college education. We hope you can make it and that it will be worth your time. If you'd like to know more you can contact Holly Truitt with UM Broader Impacts Group at 406-243-4828. Or holly.truitt@umontana.edu
