Missoula crime this past week was relatively slow, with just 13 felony cases working their way through the Missoula County Attorney’s office. However, according to County Attorney Kirsten Pabst, nearly all of those had some connection to drugs.

"Three of those were methamphetamine drug cases, but I just need to emphasize that almost every single one of these cases were somehow involved with drugs and they were mostly meth," Pabst said. "Even though only three of the 13 cases were charged as drug cases, drugs are affecting so many people in so many negative ways."

Violent crimes are some of the most serious cases the courts deal with, last week in Missoula County there were four.

"One was a strangulation case," Pabst said. "There was an aggravated burglary and a partner family member assault. There was a simple assault case charged and a robbery that involved meth. There was one complaint filed in the endangerment category, but listen to the list of charges against this defendant: we had reckless driving, obstructing a peace officer, failure to give notice of an accident by the quickest means, driving while suspended and a failure to properly use a seat belt."

On top of a couple counts of vehicle theft and a stolen credit card case, Pabst says a man was charged with Custodial Interference when caught In Montana with a 17-year-old runaway from Arkansas.
