Fire officials with Missoula County Fire Protection Association lowered fire danger to "High" as of today (Tuesday, August 19). Despite the moisture we've received, the fine fuels (grasses and small shrubs) will quickly dry and cure. The weather forecast calls for cooler temperatures later this week, but warming up again by next week. While remaining in Stage 1 restrictions, campfires are still NOT permitted. Open burning (debris burning) remains closed in Missoula County. And as always, you are urged to be extremely careful while recreating out in the woods in Montana. Our thanks to Jordan Koppen with the Missoula County Fire Protection Association and Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation for this update. DB
