Both the Missoula City Police Department and the Missoula County Sheriff's Office are seeking information regarding an unidentified man who allegedly exposed himself.

Missoula Police Detective Sergeant Travis Welsh said that one incident took place on West Broadway early Thursday morning.

"Early this morning at about 1:30, a 22 year-old female was walking on West Broadway in about the 500 block, when she was approached by a male who was naked from the waist down," Welsh said. "He was wearing a black mask and a black turtleneck shirt. He was grasping his crotch and made an offensive statement to her."

Welsh said the incident is similar to others that have been reported to both city police and the sheriff's office.

"This incident matches very similarly to others that have been reported to us in the last three days," Welsh said. "It is also similar to reports made to the sheriff's office as well. A rough description of the suspect is that he is in his mid-20's to 30 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 160 pounds. So far he has been described as wearing a black sweatshirt, or a long-sleeved shirt, along with some article of clothing on his head. In most of the cases, he is described as masturbating when he makes contact with females."

Welsh described the times and locations where the incidents occurred.

"It seems like for the most part, they've been north of the river and happened either in the late evening hours or very early morning hours," Welsh said.

Missoula County Sheriff's Department Public Information Officer Paige Pavalone released a Crimerstoppers report on Thursday morning regarding a similar incident that occurred near the Wye.

Detective Sergeant Welsh also asked for the public's help in identifying this individual or individuals.

"We're obviously concerned with what this person has done to date, but we're also concerned about the potential of where he might be going, or what his eventual intent may be," Welsh said. "Worst-case scenario would be that someone would get hurt, but we'd like to identify this individual before that happens."

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 721-44-44.
