According to a new study, men cry less often and for shorter amounts of time than women. Shocker.

Researchers in Holland found that men cry for an average of two to three minutes, compared to six minutes for women.

Also, women cry between 30 and 64 times a year on average – while men only well up between six and 17 times per year.

Men are also less likely to suffer bouts of “extreme crying.” The research found that women are twice as likely to cry for between 16 and 30 minutes than men. They were also more likely to cry for over an hour.
