Meeting One of Missoula’s Last D-Day Survivors
70 years ago today some of the bravest men stormed Normandy, France. A day that they will never forget. I got the great honor to meet one of the last survivors, John Nelson, who lives here in Missoula.
On June 6, 1944, more than 160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline, to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France. General Dwight D. Eisenhower called the operation a crusade in which, “we will accept nothing less than full victory.”
Yesterday our sister station had one of the last survivors of D-day, John Nelson on the show. Quite the man who had many stories, many emotions and can remember it like it was yesterday. I just can't even imagine what these troops had to go through. Please take the time to listen to John Nelson's interview with News Talk KGVO here.
