I think it's been an urban legend longer than there have been urban areas. And this new discovery produced the same results. No Loch Ness Monster! Not yet, anyway.

Scottish tourism officials were hopeful about an underwater robot exploring the depths of Loch Ness, when it located a dark, 30-foot long object in 750 feet of water.  Sorry, movie prop. The movie was called "The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes." In the movie, the great detective was searching for the monster using a submarine disguised as "Nessie." Well, that submarine/monster prop sank during production back in the 1970s. And that is what the robot apparently saw during its probe.

The legend lives on.   DB
