A female employee of a liquor store on Spruce Street called Missoula Police on Tuesday afternoon reporting that she had been bitten by a robber.

“The plaintiff there advised that a male came into the store, selected a bottle of alcohol and then attempted to conceal it and leave without paying for the item,” Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh said. “He was confronted by an employee, there was a brief struggle and the suspect actually bit the employee before running from the scene.”

Welsh says the woman was bitten on the arm and cameras were able to catch the suspect leaving the store.

“We were finally able to review video surveillance of the theft taking place and the subsequent struggle with the employee,” Welsh said. “One of the officers recognized the male suspect and our Street Crimes was familiar with him, and where he is typically found in town, and began to surveille the area.”

Police took 27-year-old Bradley Calfrobe into custody Thursday morning without incident. He was charged with robbery and placed in jail on $50,000 bond.
