This sounds a bit ironic, normalizing U.S. relations with Cuba hasn't just opened up trade for cigars, but for a lung cancer vaccine.

According to Wired, Cuba has developed a promising vaccine called Climavax. And on a recent trade mission, New York governor Andrew Cuomo finalized a deal to bring it to the U.S., where the FDA will begin clinical testing.

Despite spending just a fraction of what the U.S. does on healthcare, Cuba has a roughly equivalent average life expectancy, which experts attribute to the Castro administration's emphasis on innovation and bio-medical research.
