Little Big Town Perform ‘Better Man’ at 50th Annual CMA Awards
The celebrated vocal group performed in front of an unusual backdrop that made it look like they were singing in the middle of a wheat field. Karen Fairchild took center stage on the performance, delivering the song’s powerful, wistful lyric about a love that is lost due to someone just not being ready for it.
“Sometimes in the middle of the night I can feel you again / But I just miss you and I just wish you were a better man / And I know why we had to say goodbye like the back of my hand / And I just miss you and I just wish you were a better man / A Better Man,” the group sing in the chorus.
It was a strong performance of a very mature piece of songwriting that perfectly fits the group’s vocal blend. The quartet just released the song as a single, and earlier this week they revealed that the mystery songwriter behind the song is none other than Taylor Swift, whom they have known since she was in high school. She wrote it and pitched it to the group, and they were unanimous in their desire to record the track.
“Better Man” is the lead single from a new album titled The Breaker, which the group will release in February. They have also announced a residency at the hallowed Ryman Auditorium in Nashville in 2017, marking the first time an artist has done a residency there.
