Cardiac experts, doctors and nurses from the International Heart Institute will present their annual Heart Expo this Saturday, February 27 from 7 a.m. till noon  at the Broadway Building Conference Center inside St. Patrick Hospital.

Executive Director of the International Heart Institute Foundation, Tim Descamps, said the annual event draws well over 1,000 people to receive free and low-cost tests and screening.

"This is our 13th annual heart expo," Descamps said. "It has three parts to it. There's a blood draw where you can for a vary low cost get your prostate test, thyroid test and your lipids glucose tests. These are fasting test, so you'll have to fast for about 12 hours before you show up."

Descamps says there are  a series of lectures that will be presented starting at 8:00 a.m.

"The theme this year is the current landscape, structural heart programs in the U.S., along with percutaneous valve intervention at the International Heart Institute, and the Duran valve clinic - putting it all together.These are just some of the topics to be covered," he said.

The event is free, however the charge for lab tests, such as a blood screen for $5. Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) tests are available for $10 and Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) tests are available for $10.
