Library Gets Book Back 22 Years Later
Don't you love the honesty and conscientiousness of people like this? Although paying the fine would have been nice. Associated Press tells us that someone returned a cookbook to a Kansas library that they checked out in 1992. Take a deep breath and read this title all at once: "The Versatile Grain and the Elegant Bean: A Celebration of the World's Most Healthful Foods." It was in the Library's return box last week. It had been checked out in 1992, when the maximum late fine was $3.00. Now it's $4.50. The library figures the borrower had misplaced it and just recently came across it. I figure they were probably too scared to come in and pay the fine in case daily late-return fees were applied. Well, time to go cook versatile, grainy, elegant, healthy beans. DB
