George and Meriwether may not send you a text or post their request on Facebook, but we know they'd be proud of your willingness to help.

On Friday, April 13, Travelers' Rest State Park just outside of Lolo will be hosting their volunteer open house for the 2018 season. It will be set up in the main gallery of the museum, located at 6717 Highway 12 West, with staff, AmeriCorps and volunteers on hand to explain volunteer opportunities available. This is a very casual event, and you can stop in anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

You don't have to be a Lewis and Clark expert to provide helpful service to Traveler's Rest. They need folks to meet and greet tourists at the visitor center; work in the gift shop; interact informally as a roving interpreter around the park to share knowledge about the Lewis and Clark campsite, area Native American history and park rules; help with special events like fundraisers and festivals; lead walk-through interpretive tours.

You'll be provided with enough training to feel confident about being an excellent Travelers' Rest representative. It doesn't sound like it consumes a lot of your time and it could be a lot of fun. Why not check it out on Friday, April 13.
