I use to watch Reading Rainbow all the time, it was sad when the show was canceled. LaVar Burton wasn't able to obtain rights to the popular show until recently.

In 2012 when Burton gained rights to the kids show he began to try to revive it. It started out as an app for tablets and Ipads, combining the old show with new technology. On Wednesday morning LaVar put out a call for help. He needed to raise $1 million by July 2nd. Proud to say that in 11 hours, they were able to raise $1.2 million. Now classrooms will have free access to this very valuable program for children, as well as have it online for free too. It is sad no cable or local programming will pick this show up again but hopefully that is right around the corner.
