First, I would like to point out that the eight-point margin of victory is a bit misleading. That score does not include the five-point fashion penalty I had to assess Southern Utah for the red and off-black camo shorts under the solid color red tops. Mercy. Be that as it may, the Thunderbirds are a tough outfit (and those were tough outfits to look at) and gave the University of Montana everything they could handle Saturday afternoon, but our Lady Griz got off to a hot second half start and battled through some frustrating miscues in the final few minutes to prevail 81-73 in front of 2,966 fans at the Adams Center. Kellie Cole led the way for Montana with 24 points, but it was three consecutive 3-pointers early in the second half by Torrie Hill that got the Lady Griz their groove back after trailing by as many as seven in the first half. Hill finished with 19. Remember: Beat the Bobcats Monday, fans! Wear your maroon to the big game February 3 vs. Montana State. DB.
