Spring Thaw Presents 3 Hours of Peace and Music
The University of Montana Entertainment Management program presents the 12th Annual Spring Thaw. Come join us for 3 hours of local live music, kids activities and sporting events, thrilling chariot races, and a raffle. Spring Thaw will be on the University of Montana Oval from 4-7 p.m on Friday, May 9, 2014. The popular event clebrating spring and the Missoula community is free and open to the public.
UM Alum Concert – Fri, May 9, 7pm – 8pm, UM Music Recital Hall, University of Montana Missoula. UM Alum concert features noted Montana entertainer Neal Lewing, with special guest artists. Proceeds benefit the UM Music Scholarship fund.
The Missoula YMCA Riverbank Run, one of the region’s more prominent foot races, returns for its 42nd year of competition Saturday, May 10, 2014. The popular event still features the following races: 10 kilometer, 5k, one-mile fun run and the one-of-a-kind Trifecta, whereby runners compete in all three distances for a combined time. The YMCA is currently offering early bird pricing and on-line registration. Go to ymcamissoula.org to sign-up as well as check for other race details. Cash or check is still accepted in-person at the Y. Call (406) 721-9622 for more information. The race, which begins at 9 a.m. at the intersection of Higgins and Broadway downtown, has separate pricing for youth ($15), adults ($23), family ($61) and Trifecta ($35) competitors. Prices jump on March 1 and again on May 1 for late registration.
Mother’s Day Tea
Invite your mothers, grandmothers, and the special ladies in your life to the Daly Mansion’s Annual Mother’s Day Tea on Saturday, May 10th. Sponsored by Sharon Dedman of Prudential Realty, the tea will be served in the beautifully decorated Sun Porch, Formal Living Room, and the Trophy Room. This year the Mansion will be presenting the Montana Historical Society’s Exhibit “I DO”, a cultural history of Montana weddings. The doors will open at 10:30am and tea will be served from Noon to 2pm. Guests will enjoy fabulous food and tea at impeccably set tables. The day will also include live musical entertainment by The Trillium Brass Trio, gift basket raffles, party favors, self-guided tours, and photos. Admission is $25.00 for adults, and $20.00 for children. This event is recommended for children 6 years and older. Reservations are accepted by calling 406-363-6004 ext. 2#. Missoula Figure Skating
Missoula Figure Skating Club presents their annual showcase on ice. This year, the show is called Steal the Spotlight – Performance Art on Ice. It’s taking place at 6:30p.m. Saturday, May 10th at Glacier Ice Rink. In addition to featuring skaters of all ages, there wil be special perfomances from an aerialist and fire spinners. Tickets will be available at the door the night of the show or online in advance at missoulafsc.org.
