Kid Rock And The NAACP

The president of the Detroit NAACP is defending the branch’s decision to honor Kid Rock at their annual fundraiser. The Reverend Wendell Anthony says Kid Rock is not a racist, even though he uses the Confederate flag during performances. But a political consultant named Adolph Mongo says the flag is a symbol of hatred and racism. So Mongo says he’s planning a boycott of the May 1 Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner. That’s when Kid Rock is scheduled to receive the chapter’s Great Expectations Award. Detroit’s NAACP president says Kid Rock is expected to speak about the controversy at the event.
