I wish I'd had a class like this when I was a kid. All I ever got to use a magnifying glass for was to burn ants! But Associated Press uncovered a CSI-like program at Manitowoc, Wisconsin's Wilson Junior High. The kids got to inspect a murder. The victim was a mannequin named Mr. Nooo, who had been stabbed. The detective kids found clues including boot prints, fingerprints and of course the murder weapon. The "suspects" were local law enforcement personnel.

So the kids got a real hands-on experience and probably had a blast solving the murder.  I hope they came away with a deeper appreciation of some of the real dangers officers face. Kudos to School Resource Officer Jeremy Kronforst for putting things together!
