It wasn't discovered in Folsom Prison, where time keeps draggin' on. But pretty close. And the man who was in on collecting new species is a big Johnny Cash fan!

The world has now been introduced to Johnny Cash the Black Tarantula, one of 14 new species identified by Chris Hamilton of Auburn University and a number of colleagues. And Professor Hamilton is such a Cash fan (he has a tattoo) that he was thrilled the naming rights to this beauty, whose habitat includes an area of California near Folsom Prison, went to him.

Once it was determined that the tarantula in black was a new find, the Man in Black was the logical choice to get recognized. I don't know if Johnny had arachnophobia or not, but hopefully he's smiling down on this prestigious honor.  DB
