The recent, tragic death of 33-year-old Cascade County Deputy Joe Dunn is a reminder of just how dangerous the life of a Montana law enforcement officer can be.

Flags across Montana will be flying at half staff today, August 21, for the Dunn funeral taking place in Great Falls, but Dunn is certainly not the first, and will likely not be the last deputy to make the ultimate sacrifice while enforcing the law.

Montana has lost 123 law enforcement personnel and each name has an honored place on the Officer Down Memorial Page.

Like other officers, Joe Dunn was more than just a man with a badge: he was the parent of two young children, a husband, and a neighbor.

While no amount of money will ever replace Joe, so far, more than 400 people across the state have began donating to help the Dunn family in their time of grief. Those wishing to contribute to the Dunn family can do so by following the link below.
