We are a nervous, jumpy society, and who can blame us for that. Luckily this was not a dangerous situation. And local authorities had no problem with concerned citizens committing an error on the side of caution.

This happened in Lancaster PA. Associated Press tells us that police were called to an office building when someone thought a photographer's tripod was a gun. The caller thought a machine gun had been brought in, so police searched floor-by-floor and eventually found the photographer with her tripod. The workers breathed a sigh of relief and even had a little fun with it with some photos on Facebook.

For their part, police say the caller did the right thing and they would much rather respond to a call like that and find nothing, rather than not get a call when someone really does have a gun.

All is well.   DB
