The Affordable Health Care Act insurance exchanges will officially open for business on Tuesday, October 1. Montana Commissioner of Securities and Insurance Monica Lindeen will speak at two locations in Missoula on Monday, September 30.

Lindeen is going to be at St. Patrick Hospital at noon, and at the University of Montana at 6 p.m. holding public forums to answer questions about the health insurance exchanges.

Larry White, who is the former CEO of St. Patrick Hospital, and is currently the director of the Western Area Health Education Center at the University of Montana, said the Affordable Care Act will definitely help those most in need of health insurance.

"For individuals who either do not have employer-provided insurance, or who have preexisting conditions that haven't been covered by insurance, it can be a very, very big benefit," White said. "The plan is very unique and individualized to each person, depending on their conditions, their income and their age. Commissioner Lindeen will be here to answer those questions on Monday."

Lindeen will appear at the University Center room 332 at 6 p.m. and the event is free and open to the public.
