If Pesky Sea Lions Could Laugh

Maybe they CAN laugh, I don't know. If so, they're chuckling over this latest attempt to scare them off.

So at least for now, they remain quite a nuisance.

They're having trouble chasing off sea lions who have become quite a nuisance along the Oregon coast. They damage docks and cut into commercial fisherman salmon supplies. The Port of Astoria has tried beach balls, colorful tape, chicken wire and electric mats. Nothing has worked.

But now here comes: Life-sized Mechanical Orca!!!! Yep, the fake killer whale was launched this week. The minute it hit the water the engine flooded. But a replacement order has been installed, orca is on the prowl and hopefully if the sea lions see it, they'll start moving out.

If they've stopped laughing.
