Idaho DOT Closes/Opens Hwy 12 (Updated)

Hwy 12 on the Idaho side of Lolo Pass is a long stretch of lonesome highway. Once you get past Powell Ranger Station there it's nothing but forest and it's very remote,with no cell service. It's also very steep terrain prone to avalanches.Last week the Idaho DOT closed the road,then opened it late in the week and finally this past Saturday they closed it again.

As of shortly before 8 a.m. today (2-17-2014), Hwy 12 was re-opened. The latest word from them is that the road will be opened and closed according to weather conditions. We'll keep you up to date.
