This is a real issue when you are outside during the summer, especially if you are doing activities outdoors that require more out of you, you can find yourself with heat illness.

Here are some tips on how to prevent this. When we have multiple triple digit days in the summer staying hydrated isn't the only thing you can do. According to Thortz.com avoiding caffeine can actually help, now I am not recommending taking this out of your diet but they are saying if you know you are going to be outside for long periods of time caffeine isn't always your friend. Some other tips are:

  • Avoid ice cold drinks
  • Electrolytes are your friend, drink something that has them in it.
  • Dress properly, and light wear is great and so is cotton.
  • Hat and cooling neck wraps are very helpful during the summer months
  • Don't wait till you are thirsty to hydrate

Enjoy the summer and keep from overheating with these tips.
