We Montanans do like our beer. Here in Missoula we have four craft breweries. In the Bitterroot Valley there are two in Stevensville and another pair in Hamilton, and more are popping up all the time. So how long do we have to work to enjoy a cold one?

A recent study by The Economist has revealed that Americans have to work the shortest amount of time for a pint of beer. Based upon average wages and beer prices, we work about 5 minutes for a pint of beer. That converts to about a 12 pack every hour.

In the Czech Republic, where they make very good beer and consume more per capita than anywhere else in the world, it takes a little longer, about seven minutes for a pint. At the opposite end of the spectrum is India, where they work almost an hour. But, when they have the money, they drink beer, accounting for nearly two-thirds of all the world's beer consumption in 2011.

I’ve been at this blog for about a half hour now, I think I’ll take a break and have a beer. I’ve surely earned it!
