So cold they can't event have an ice sculpture contest! No, not a  bad "how cold" joke, it's a problem near Fairbanks. I mean I guess we shouldn't be too stunned that it's bitter cold in Alaska, but for cryin' out loud! Too cold for ice sculptures? The "Christmas in Ice" festival is this weekend. But temperatures of 40 below are making it tough on the sculptors. Tools are breaking, electric cords are snapping. It's even too cold for the ice. The festival chairman lamented that ice gets brittle at 20 below (I assume he would know). Well, here's to at least a little global warming....I'm sorry, climate change.....in Fairbanks by the weekend. I imagine there will be a number of sculpture entries of swans wearing Snuggies. DB
