Sounds like an innocent jogger minding his own business might have made a great horned owl cranky. Associated Press tells us that Ron Jacks of Salem, Oregon, was jogging when he was hit so hard in the head he thought it was maybe lightning or that he was having a stroke. In a daze, Mr. Jacks was hit again! That's when he saw a very large winged animal flying away. At first he thought it was a massive bat. Well, remember, he's a bit woozy here. And great horned owls are nesting in January and they have been known to attack anything they think threatens their nest.

Jog with care.  DB
