A hit and run crash led to a high speed pursuit occurred Wednesday night started on South Avenue near Community Medical Center, and ended up Highway 12 outside Lolo.

Jeremiah Peterson with the Missoula County Sheriff's Office told KGVO News the incident began on South Avenue not far from Community Medical Center.

"Fire and medical encountered the suspect vehicle near Community Hospital, when the suspect fled the scene and continued on to Reserve Street and crashed again near Reserve and Harve Street," Peterson said.

At that point, a deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver and his full-size Chevy pickup fled the scene.

"The chase continued south along Reserve, onto Brooks and up Highway 93 and then onto Highway 12," he said. "The suspect ran off the road a couple of times, and then it crashed on Highway 12. At that point, we made contact with the single male occupant who was then taken into custody."

The 46 year-old Missoula man was taken to St. Patrick Hospital for a medical evaluation, and then transported to the Missoula County Jail. Alcohol is suspected in the incident. Peterson said, miraculously, no one was injured throughout the chase, although there was quite a bit of property damage.
