20 year-old Michael McVey, of Great Falls, appeared in Missoula justice court Wednesday charged with two felonies and numerous misdemeanors after a high-speed chase that ranged from Great Falls to Missoula on Tuesday.

Deputy Missoula County Attorney Shaun Donovan says McVey allegedly stole a Nissan Maxima in Great Falls, ran the Cascade County Sheriff off the road in an attempt to escape, and led Montana Highway Patrol and Sheriff’s deputies on a chase at speeds well over 100 miles per hour all the way to Missoula, where he eventually crashed the car and was apprehended.

Donovan says McVey is being charged with felony theft and criminal endangerment, along with misdemeanors ranging from three counts of fleeing from a police officer and being an habitual traffic offender.

Donovan says the two felonies each carry a maximum 10 year sentence, and fines of $50,000, while the misdemeanors have sentences of about one year each, with more fines attached.

Donovan says McVey has been arrested 16 times in the past two years.

McVey is in jail on $50,000 bond for each of the felonies.
