Watch out while wearing those stilettos. Researchers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham crunched the numbers and estimated that 124,000 high-heel-related injuries were treated in emergency rooms in the U.S. from 2002 to 2012.

Women in their 20s were most likely to suffer these injuries, typically sprains and strains to the foot or ankle.
