How torn this couple must have been: Tell cops you were scammed in a marijuana deal or lose your 2,800 bucks! Then again, checking the backpack first might have solved a few problems.

This complicated conundrum was presented to us by Associate Press out of Adrian, Michigan. It seems Michael Rafael Suarez set up a drug deal to sell a pound of marijuana to a couple. He gives them a backpack in exchange for the cash. The backpack contained nothing but dirty socks.

So the duped couple gets police to track Suarez down. He admits he never had any weed, and was charged with false pretenses. He pleaded guilty to lesser charges to avoid spending up to 7-and-a-half years in jail!

No word on what the couple who wanted to buy the pot might be charged with. But drug deals are always loaded with dirty laundry.  DB
