Posture is an important part of balance and "not falling over." The latest free community health class from Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital will present ways to improve your balance and avoid an unexpected fall. The session will be Thursday, March 8th, at the Hamilton hospital's Blodgett Conference Room.

Though the one-hour instruction will start at 5:30 p.m., the doors will open at 4:45 p.m. so you can get your posture and balance checked, to get you started "on the right foot," so to speak.

Holly Jarvis, PT, cPT, and Missy Frank, PTA, both from Marcus Daly Rehabilitation, will show you how to improve your balance by working on flexibilty and your "core" muscles. You will leave with activities that can be done at home. The MDMH Rehabilitation Center has regular programs that address issues that contribute to better posture and fitness.

The next community class will be April 12th, "Learning Your Labels and Rethinking Your Drink," which will emphasize reducing your intake of sugar and high fructose corn syrup, especially important to those with diabetes.
