Those of you who have driven Highway 12 and the Idaho panhandle are probably familiar with Kamiah, Idaho.

The U.S. Forest Service office there is considering converting two former fire lookouts in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests into rental units. The public comment period is now underway.

We don't have information on amenities or how difficult the rentals would be to access, but you probably wouldn't have to drive around too long to find a parking place. And the views must be spectacular! Of course, no continental breakfast, but hey, for 45 bucks a night? It could be just the thing for those who really like to get away.

We'll try to keep up with how it progresses so we can be your trip advisors!  DB
