Montana Grizzly football fans who wanted to see some football in the snow got their wish. But by the time the blizzard hit late in the second quarter, the Griz had already buried San Diego under an avalanche of touchdowns, taking a 38-0 lead into the locker room, and coasted to a 52-14 romp over the outmatched Toreros Saturday afternoon in Washington-Grizzly Stadium in the opening round of the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.

Quarterback Jordan Johnson threw two touchdown passes to wide receiver Jamaal Jones and one to running back Jordan Canada (pictured). Canada also ran for a touchdown and kicker Daniel Sullivan drilled a 42-yard field goal with a strong wind blowing across the field and John Nguyen returned a punt 60 yards for a TD---all in the first half. And the Montana defense put on another great show, allowing only a few yards and one first down in the first half. The Griz reserves surrendered a couple of meaningless touchdowns after the Griz had stretched the lead to 52-0.

Now it gets serious! The Griz take a big step up in Round 2, traveling to Eastern Washington for a huge battle next Saturday, December 6 at 2:30 p.m. MST. The Griz are red hot! Let's keep it rolling!
