Pressed into a starting role due to injuries, third-string quarterback McKena Simis only completed 15 passes on the day. But when six of them go for touchdowns, that's a pretty hefty return on investment.

Simis tied a single-game record held by three other Montana QBs, the Grizzly defense was its usual stingy self, and the Montana Grizzlies put on an outstanding aerial show on their way to a 42-16 route of North Dakota in Big Sky Conference action in Washington-Grizzly Stadium in front of just over 25,000 appreciative fans.

Simis threw touchdown passes of 23 yards to Ben Roberts, 36 yards to Ellis Henderson, 63 yards to Henderson, 12 yards to Josh Horner, and 74 and 22 yards to Jamal Jones, as he racked up 321 yards, averaging 21.4 yards per completion.

Nice to be back on the winning track. It's off to Portland State for a Halloween showdown. Scott Gurnsey and I will be on the air at 1:00 with the Statewide Tailgate show. Kickoff at 3:00 on the Voice of the Griz, News/Talk KGVO.

See you then, Griz Nation!    DB
