I think we saw this movie before just a month ago. Costly turnovers. Touchdown to end the first half.

In sad and similar to fashion to the regular season loss, the University of Montana fell to Eastern Washington 37-20 in the second round of the FCS playoffs Saturday afternoon in Cheney Washington. Thus comes to an end the career of Griz head coach Mick Delaney, who announced his retirement last month. Eastern Washington moves onto the next round, hosting Illinois State either December 12 or 13.

The game was surprisingly a defensive struggle most of the first half, with the Eagles leading only 7-3 with about 6 minutes to go. Then Eastern went on a long drive to make it 13-3 to end the half. Montana had to kick off to start the second half and promptly went the length of the field again to make it 20-3. The Griz hung in there at 30-20, but could not get the ball back until a late interception. Sadly UM quarterback Jordan Johnson threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown with a minute to play and that added to the margin to make the game look even more lopsided.

Thanks for a great season, Griz. We love ya. And good luck with your search for a new coach to replace the classy gentleman that is Mick Delaney.
